Your Freedom is Important

Today is the final day of early voting in Texas, which means that Election Day is your final chance to tell the Old Parties what you want and which candidate YOU believe will best represent you and your family in the Texas legislature. Since this may be one of my final appeals before then, I wanted to point out what I think you should vote for: your freedom. Your freedom is important - perhaps the MOST important thing you have to vote on - and any other reason is secondary.
"It's not how fast you can go. The force goes into the flow."
We are living in a time where many voters feel disillusioned by the political process. People are frustrated by a system that seems rigged, where their voices are often drowned out by the loudest, most entrenched interests. But all of you have recognized something essential: that a different path DOES exist - a path where the government is limited - and individual rights are paramount. "And that," as the poet said, "has made all the difference."
"More than just survival, more than just a flash. More than just a dotted line, more than just a dash."
But let's reflect for a moment what this means. In the end, it's not just a number on a scoreboard. It's a signal to those in power that you are done being ignored. It's a message to every American that they don't have to settle for the status quo, that there's an alternative to the endless cycle of partisan bickering and government overreach.
Let me be perfectly clear: liberty is not just an option; it's a requirement. I am saying that YOU, the people, deserve the right to make your own choices - whether it's in your personal lives, your businesses, or your wallets. Liberty is the idea that the government should be a servant to the people, not their master.
"More than blind ambition, more than simple greed, more than a finish line must feed this burning need in the long run."
And let's not forget the importance of our principles. Libertarians stand firm in the face of adversity, refusing to compromise our beliefs. We advocate for policies that prioritize freedom - like ending the long-failed War on Drugs, reducing the size of government, and protecting personal privacy. These aren't just talking points for us; they are A FOUNDATION for a society that respects the dignity of each individual regardless of their background. Libertarians stand to show everyone that the principles of REAL liberty can unite us, regardless of our backgrounds or beliefs. Together, we can create a future that respects individual rights and promotes freedom for all.
"It's a test of ultimate will, the heartbreak climb uphill. Got to pick up the pace if you want to stay in the race."
The point is that we are witnessing a shift - a growing awareness that alternatives to the two-party system exist. Voters are beginning to realize that they don't have to choose between the lesser of ... well, a paper cut or a root canal. You can choose Liberty! And since we Libertarians already know that the odds of winning our respective races are against us, we have nothing to gain by telling you, the voters, what we think you want to hear just to secure your votes, but we also have nothing to lose by telling you the truth, at least as we see it, and to the Old Parties, that makes us VERY DANGEROUS PEOPLE!
"From first to last, the peak is never passed. Something always fires the light that gets in your eyes."
Once I realized that the reason that the Old Parties are fighting so hard to minimize our voice in the political arena, I also wanted to know "what are the Democrats and Republicans REALLY so afraid of?" Well, I will tell you EXACTLY what the Old Parties are afraid of.
They are afraid because Libertarians are fearless. We're not afraid of their politics, their manipulative influence, their petty backbiting, or their public bickering. While they are wallowing in their arenas slinging mud and feces at each other, we Libertarians are wondering why so many other people are amused - even excited - by their childish displays and their myopic perspective that "American politics shapes the world".
"One moment's high and glory rolls on by like a streak of lighting that flashes and fades in the summer sky."
The larger point is that they want you to fear them. Fearmongering is what they do. And it baffles them when we don't play their game by their rules. How much time do we spend trying to convince people that "in a free society, people don't need the government telling them what to do"? THAT'S what authoritarians fear. It's not about what makes YOU feel comfortable; it's about what makes THEM feel comfortable. It's about THEM making sure that you LIVE where they want, that you DO WHAT they want, WHEN they want, and HOW they want. Your freedom scares them, and is therefore a threat to them because they can't control you.
"You can do a lot in a lifetime if you don't burn out too fast. You can make the most of the distance, [but] first you need endurance, first you've got to last."
So, never mind the news reports because the news groups are just as much in the dark about the REAL results as the candidates are. For those of you who still have not voted, the ONLY question that you should be asking yourself when you step into that voting booth is, "how will selecting this candidate affect MY freedom, my children's freedom, and my neighbor's freedom?" THAT'S what me and all of my fellow veterans have protected for you - the freedom to choose for yourselves the kind of government you want. Don't destroy it. Protect it. Savor it. Remember WHY we have the ability to vote. Remember it, " for it is the doom of men that they forget."
